I’m am at the Palm Business Center of Houston where Siva Yenneti of IT Vibes goes into detail about using social media for marketing and branding.
Of course my main purpose is to learn new tricks that can be used by working professionals to enhance their personal online brand, which will ultimately make them more visible to top jobs.
Looks like today’s message underlines the theme that social media is a powerful branding tool.
The 5 major social tools are: Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and blogging.
When all or any strategic combination of these tools are used correctly, then they help to create your online presence. And when that presence is fully optimized, it becomes your life line to new opportunities and valuable connections.
Siva mentioned that people are looking for you on the web, so you need to control how you are found.
For example, if I type in ‘great professional’ in Google, would it be nice if your online profile came up?
Now imagine if I typed, ‘useless professional’ instead and your profile came up. How would something like that effect your brand?
Optimizing your online brand helps you control what keywords lead back to you.
